One of the more powerful uses of the STI (SwingTimer Indicator) is to apply several instances of the indicator to a single chart but establishing a different  NBar   (and possibly some other input values) to each instance.

The following chart depicts a 60 minute chart (showing close only but using high and low for computation and insertion of results) on which three instances of the indicator have been installed.  The bottom of the picture contains a display of the parameters used.

This was a relatively short series of data so in order to get some idea of what the longer (34 bar) period events looked like it was necessary to use a match patterns value of ZERO (i.e. use all the patterns that had occurred regardless of  ID except for up/down) to get some output.  Although this is not a preferred mode of operation it certainly is better than not knowing anything about how the longer period cycles might behave.

The indicator is ALWAYS set up to FORCE a turn on the last bar on the chart if that bar is at least 1/4th the length of the NBar parameter from the last turn -- that is why we see an 8 and 13 forced display but not the 21 or 34 Nbar equivalent -- not enough bars since the last TP.  The 1/4 number of bars before generating a projection is a rather arbitrary figure but seldom do we see turns occur in less time than this.

For those of you with the OPEN version of the indicator, the following line can be changed if you don't like the 1/4th concept I have implemented.

Copy of source code for changing this 1/4th concept.
